What are LAERI’s policies/processes for making research findings public?
Before you can share findings from your team’s LAERI-affiliated project with the public (i.e., anyone who is not a member of your research or practitioner team, the RPP working group, or LAERI staff), you need to share your findings with designated district leaders. LAERI and L.A. Unified have established processes for releasing different kinds of research products (e.g., conference proposals, research briefs, journal articles). Each of these processes requires that you either notify the district or submit your research product for review before it is made public.
The table below provides an overview of the lead time required for different types of research products. The information in the table is the lead time required after you have shared your findings with your practitioner team (i.e., you need to share your research product with your practitioner team before requesting district review– see the section on how to share research findings with your practitioner team). Below the table, you will find links to more information about the process for releasing specific types of research products.
At the bottom of the page are details on how to acknowledge LAERI in your research products.
Lead Time Required When Releasing Findings from LAERI-Affiliated Research Projects
*The district asks that affiliated researchers provide their practitioner team advanced notice that they plan to submit a conference proposal, present at a meeting, or give an invited talk that does not identify the district, district schools, or LAERI at least 30 days prior to the submission deadline/meeting/talk and share the materials they plan to submit/present at least 5 business days prior to the deadline/meeting/talk.
