LAERI Research & Policy Seminar:
The Use of Online Courses for High School Credit Recovery: Effectiveness, Costs, and Experiences
Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12-1 pm PDT
The Los Angeles Education Research Institute (LAERI) invites you to attend a virtual Research & Policy seminar on credit recovery by Dr. Jordan Rickles and Dr. Margaret Clements, principal and senior researchers at American Institutes for Research (AIR). Dr. Carol Alexander, LAUSD’s Director of A-G Intervention and Support, will faciliate the discussion of this research.
The presenters will review findings from their seven-year study of online credit recovery in Los Angeles high schools, conducted by AIR in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District. The findings cover evidence about the effectiveness of a specific online model implemented during the district’s 2018 and 2019 summer school sessions, the relative costs of implementing the online credit recovery model, challenges in-class teachers experienced supporting the online course, and student perspectives on the credit recovery experience.
To receive the Zoom link for the seminar, please register using the form on this page. Feel free to pass this invitation along to colleagues and students who might be interested.
