Removing Data from the LAERI Server
To remove statistical output, syntax, or other materials from the LAERI server, your team needs to email LAERI at laeri@g.ucla.edu.
LAERI staff review all disclosure review requests to ensure that the materials you plan to remove from the server comply with LAUSD’s data disclosure rules, LAERI’s Data Use Agreement and policies, and your project’s project approval form.
LAERI accepts disclosure review requests Monday-Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm, excluding federal, state, and UCLA holidays. Any requests submitted outside of these hours will be marked as having been received at 9 am during the next submission window (e.g., submissions made at 6 pm on Thursday will be marked as received at 9 a.m. on Monday, and submissions received at 7 a.m. on Monday will be marked as received at 9 am on Monday).
The table below shows typical processing times for disclosure review requests.
LAERI Disclosure Review Processing Times

Before submitting a disclosure review request, you are responsible for ensuring that the files do not violate LAUSD or LAERI policies. The section below describes the basic disclosure review rules and provides examples of appropriate ways to redact information in your files. Note that these rules are minimum requirements, and, depending on the nature of your project, the district may ask your team to follow stricter disclosure rules.
Minimum Cell Sizes
LAERI-affiliated projects using student or staff-level data from the archive must redact statistics based on small samples. The table to the right shows LAUSD’s reporting rules.
If your Ns in a cell fall below 11, or if your percentages in a cell fall below 1% or above 99%, you need to redact the statistic(s) in that cell (e.g., replace the statistic with an asterisk).

Identifying Information
You cannot remove information from the server that could make it possible to identify students, parents, or staff. You can only remove information that identifies schools if your project has written permission from the district to identify schools. If your project received district approval to identify schools when you submitted your project proposal, LAERI will keep that information on file. You do not need to take additional steps before submitting a disclosure review request that identifies schools. If you have not received permission to identify schools, you will need to discuss the need with your LAUSD practitioner team and then submit a written request to LAERI (laeri@g.ucla.edu), copying the lead of your practitioner team, with a brief explanation about why you need to identify schools, what information you plan to report about the schools, and the type of research product you plan to release containing school identifiers. LAERI will review and then share your request with LAUSD for review and approval.
If LAERI finds that the file(s) you submit for disclosure review violate the disclosure rules, your team will need to review the files and resubmit your request.
If you have any questions about the disclosure review process, please contact Carrie Miller (cemiller@g.ucla.edu).
