Updated Files:

• 2009 Secondary Transcripts: The 2009 transcript file only includes 10th, 11th, and 12th graders and is missing several variables the district typically provides (i.e., teacher pseudo identification code, work effort marks, cooperation marks, and class period). We received a new, complete version of the file which contains all secondary students (i.e., 6th–12th graders) and transcript variables.
• 2003–2018 CELDT: We converted several string variables to numeric format (exam proficiency level, school location code, and grade level). There are also small changes to Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, and Extended Transitional Kindergarten students’ standardized exam scores.
• 2019 ELPAC: We added a variable that describes students’ overall performance exam level.
• 2006 Demographics: We replaced the categorical homelessness variable with a binary variable that indicates whether students experienced homelessness during a given term (e.g., end fall). We replaced the categorical variable because there was no district documentation for the 2006 file and we could not ensure the categorical coding was correct.
• 2014 School Roster File: We converted the 2014 charter school variable to numeric format.
• 2016 and 2017 School Roster Files: We renamed the charter school variables to match the 2006–2015 and 2018–2022 data files.
• 2018 and 2019 School Roster Files: We corrected a coding error in the school type variable (lausdschtype). This correction affects self-contained middle school magnets and opportunity schools/units.
